15 Years and Counting…

A lot of things happened in 1993. Bill Clinton succeeded George H.W. Bush as the 42nd president of the United States. The Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan won their third straight NBA title, while the Buffalo Bills lost their third straight NFL Super Bowl. The Jeep Grand Cherokee hit the market and was on display all over the SEMA Show floor. And, the SEMA Show Silent Auction had it’s first ever auction to benefit the SEMA Memorial Scholarship fund. Jimmy Johnson Autographed Football

The first item donated to the 2008 Silent Auction was a football autographed by NCAA title game and Superbowl winning coach Jimmy Johnson. This item was secured at the 2008 SEMA National Education Conference in Nashville, Tennessee on April 10th. There was a significant presence from the Young Executive’s Network at this years NEC conference. Shown in the photo above are: Kellie Colf, with Eaton Detroit Spring and serves as a YEN Select Committee Member and the Chair of the SEMA Business Women’s Network (SBN), Lance Packard, with American AutoWire and serves as the YEN Chair Elect, Hall-of-Fame coach Jimmy Johnson, Laurel Dasher, with MSD Ignition and serves as the current YEN Chairman, and Gregory Parker, with Martin & Company Advertising and serves as a YEN Select Committee Member and the YEN Silent Auction Task Force Chairman. 1,000 Exhibitors Already Signed Up for the SEMA Show

More than 1,000 exhibitors have already signed up for this year’s SEMA Show, scheduled November 4–7, 2008 in Las Vegas.

Phase one gives priority to qualified non-exhibiting attendees who have attended the SEMA Show during the past three years. Individuals in this group will receive an e-mail that includes a personal alumni number and link that makes it possible to register quickly, without having to re-submit proof of industry affiliation. WE RAISED NEARLY 70K…
December 14th, 2007The SEMA Silent Auction once again raised the bar for dollars raised for the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Silent Auction, organized by the SEMA Young Executive’s Network, raised nearly $70,000 in 2007. In addition to the money raised at the SEMA Show Silent auction, the PWA (Performance Warehouse Association) Silent Auction, also organized by YEN, chipped in an additional $6,000 to the Scholarship Fund. All-in-all, the efforts in 2007 were able raise nearly $75,000, which is the largest sum of money the YEN group has ever raised in a calendar year. Vanguard Award
The Young Executives Network Vanguard Award is presented to an individual, business, organization or sanctioning body that has had a positive aff ect on a young executive’s career within the automotive industry. While there is no age requirement for nomination to the Vanguard award, the criteria used in determining each candidate’s qualifi cations include employment at a SEMA-member company and exceptional service, integrity and business ethics. The person or organization must have infl uenced the professional growth and/or cultivation of talent for young executives through actions, mentoring, visions and/or contributions for the past, present and future. It Came and Went…

Well, this year’s annual SEMA Show has already come and gone. If you missed it, then you missed the biggest and best SEMA Show ever. For those of you who have never been to this trade only show, it brings you 4 complete days of the largest car event on the planet! This year more than 2,000 companies exhibited products and over 1,300 one-of-a-kind vehicles were on display. More than one hundred thousand people travel to this non-public event from over 100 countries to attend and fill the city’s hotels, casinos, clubs and most importantly the super human sized Las Vegas Convention Center. Only the Consumer Electronics show attracts more people in Las Vegas.
